TEST AVAILABLE AT KDTC

We provide a full range of biochemical laboratory tests for diagnosing and managing endocrine disorders. These include routine hormone immunoassays, autoantibody panels, genetic testing (in advanced setups), and dynamic stimulation/suppression tests.

  1.  Diabetes Mellitus and Glucose Homeostasis Tests

These are core for diagnosing and monitoring type 1, type 2, gestational diabetes, prediabetes, insulin resistance, and hypoglycemia.

  • Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG)
  • Random Plasma Glucose
  • 2-hour Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) — often with insulin measurements
  • Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c)
  • Fructosamine (alternative for HbA1c interference)
  • Insulin levels (fasting or during OGTT)
  • C-peptide (fasting, postprandial, or stimulated)
  • Proinsulin (in select hypoglycemia cases)
  • Autoantibodies for type 1 diabetes/autoimmune diabetes: Glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD-65), Islet antigen-2 (IA-2), Zinc transporter-8 (ZnT8), Insulin autoantibodies (IAA)
  • Ketone testing (blood beta-hydroxybutyrate or urine acetoacetate)
  • Continuous glucose monitoring interpretation support

2. Thyroid Gland Tests

For hypo/hyperthyroidism, thyroiditis, nodules, Graves’ disease, and thyroid cancer monitoring.

  • Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
  • Free Thyroxine (Free T4)
  • Free Triiodothyronine (Free T3)
  • Total T4 and Total T3
  • Thyroid antibodies: Anti-Thyroid Peroxidase (TPOAb), Anti-Thyroglobulin (TgAb), TSH Receptor Antibodies (TRAb/TSI for Graves’)
  • Thyroglobulin (Tg) — for cancer follow-up
  • Calcitonin — for medullary thyroid carcinoma screening/monitoring
  • Thyroglobulin antibodies (with Tg for interference check)
  • USG guided FNAC/biopsy of thyroid nodule

3. Adrenal Gland Tests

For Cushing’s syndrome, Addison’s disease, primary aldosteronism, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma.

  • Morning serum Cortisol (or random)
  • Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH)
  • 24-hour Urinary Free Cortisol
  • Dexamethasone Suppression Test (low-dose, high-dose, or overnight)
  • ACTH (Cosyntropin/Synacthen) Stimulation Test
  • Aldosterone (plasma or urine) and Plasma Renin Activity (or Direct Renin) — Aldosterone/Renin Ratio
  • Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S)
  • 17-Hydroxyprogesterone (basal or ACTH-stimulated for CAH)
  • Androstenedione
  • 21-Hydroxylase Antibodies (21OH-Abs)
  • Plasma or urinary fractionated Metanephrines/Catecholamines (for pheochromocytoma)

4. Pituitary Gland Tests

For pituitary adenomas, hypopituitarism, acromegaly, prolactinoma, etc.

  • Prolactin
  • Growth Hormone (GH) — basal or stimulated/suppressed
  • Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1)
  • Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
  • Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
  • ACTH
  • TSH and Free T4

  • 5. Parathyroid and Bone/Calcium Metabolism Tests

For hyper/hypoparathyroidism, vitamin D disorders, and related bone health.

  • Parathyroid Hormone (PTH, intact or 1-84)
  • Serum Calcium (total and ionized)
  • Phosphate
  • 25-Hydroxy Vitamin D
  • 1,25-Dihydroxy Vitamin D
  • 24-hour Urinary Calcium and Creatinine

  • 6. Gonadal (Reproductive) Hormone Tests

For hypogonadism, PCOS, infertility, disorders of sexual development, menopause/andropause.

  • Testosterone (total, free, bioavailable) + Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG)
  • Estradiol (E2)
  • Progesterone
  • LH/ FSH
  • Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH)
  • Inhibin B
  • Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG)
  • DHEA-S and Androstenedione
  • Karyotyping

7. Other Specialized/Miscellaneous Endocrine Tests

  • For multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN), carcinoid, etc.: Chromogranin A, Gastrin, VIP, etc.
  • Electrolytes, osmolality, urine sodium (for SIADH, diabetes insipidus)
  • Genetic testing panels for hereditary endocrine disorders (e.g., MEN1/2, CAH genes, MODY diabetes genes)
  • Urine steroid profiling or salivary hormone panels (cortisol, etc.)

8. Dynamic Function (Provocation/Suppression) Tests

  • ACTH (Cosyntropin) Stimulation Test (adrenal insufficiency)
  • Dexamethasone Suppression Tests (Cushing’s)
  • Oral Glucose Tolerance Test with GH suppression (acromegaly)
  • GnRH Stimulation Test (gonadotropin reserve)
